Abstract
The
Quick
Cognitive
Screening
Test
is
a
brief
and
portable
,
mid-range
cognitive
assessment
tool
used
to
detect
specific
cognitive
deficits
in
individuals
with
traumatic
brain
injury
,
psychiatric
disorders
, and
neurological
disorders
(Mate-Kole
,
Major
,
Lenzer
&
Connolly
,
1994)
.
Although
many
brief
tests
have been
developed
,
limitations
in their
sensitivity
,
specificity
, and
administration
length
still
exist
. The
present
study
examined
the
psychometric
properties
of the
revised
version
of the
Quick
Cognitive
Screening
Test
(RQCST)
.
353
participants
were
recruited
comprising
normal
controls
and
individuals
with
neurological
disorders
including
Alzheimer's
disease
,
vascular
dementia
,
traumatic
brain
injury
, and
cerebrovascular
disease
. The
RQCST
was
administered
along
with
standardized
measures
to
participants
. The
results
revealed
that the
RQCST
discriminated
between
normal
,
healthy
individuals
the
neurological
group
.
Additionally
, the
RQCST
significantly
correlated
with
other
standardized
measures
confirming
the
RQCST's
reliability
and
validity
as a
screening
instrument
for
individuals
with
cognitive
deficits
.
