Notes	Barnacles have been well studied due to their abundance in the marine community and their ability to foul marine structures, such as ship hulls and piers. However, it is necessary to better understand the site-specific reproductive capability of barnacle adults and the fluctuations of planktonic larval settlement in order to better determine the numbers and locations of local adult populations. The purpose of this study was to provide specific details about the reproductive capability of adults in relation to their size and the timing and pattern of larval release and larval settlement over one reproductive season, from 31 December 2002 to 6 June 2003, for Avery Point, CT, on Long Island Sound. Non-solitary adults were collected from December 2002 to February 2003 in order to determine the percent of adults with eggs over the spawning season, the relationship of adult size to egg size and egg number, and the approximate time of larval release. Each adult's aperture length and largest basal diameter was measured, while eggs were counted and measured for 31 adults collected on 15 January 2003. PVC settlement plates were deployed weekly from the end of January to the beginning of June 2003. Newly settled larvae and metamorphosed juveniles were counted on each plate in order to estimate larval settlement each week over the spawning/settlement season. Page numbers Egg length, width, and volume were not significantly correlated with adult aperture length. Egg number and adult aperture length were highly correlated (R2 = 0.789), with larger adults producing more eggs. Eggs were released over a two-month period, however, more than 75 % of adults released eggs between 15 and 31 January. Settlement rates were calculated as the number of settlers per hour of plate submergence for each collection period. Settlement was highest between 11 and 21 April, with the majority of settlement occurring from late March to early May.
