Abstract
Alcohol
consumption
and
prevalence
on
college
campuses
is
not a
new
or
uncommon
concern
.
When
one
thinks
of
college
,
most
think
of
college
parties
or
sporting
events
and
alcohol
is
commonly
present
at those
activities
. The
popularity
of
alcohol
on
college
campuses
seems
to be a
common
trend
among
most
institutions
.
Students
feel
comfortable
carrying
alcoholic
containers
out
in the
open
even
when
living
on a
dry
campus
,
which
is
one
area
of
concern
. In
addition
, these
actions
influence
the
perception
college
students
have
about
the
amount
of
alcohol
that
is
consumed
by
college
students
as
well
as the
behaviors
that
take
place
under
the
influence
of
alcohol
. This
study
uses
data
from the
CORE
Alcohol
and
Drug
Survey
. The
survey
was
administered
to
numerous
colleges
and
universities
throughout
the
country
;
however
, this
study
will
focus
on the
CORE
survey
results
from
Central
Connecticut
State
University
. An
examination
of the
survey
for the
years
2006
and
2012
will
focus
on
gender
and
actual
consumption
of
alcohol
,
perceived
alcohol
consumption
,
perceived
behaviors
under
the
influence
of
alcohol
, and
actual
behaviors
under
the
influence
of
alcohol
, and
students
'
own
consumption
and
behavior
in
relation
to
alcohol
. The
goal
is
to
examine
gender
differences
specific
to
alcohol
over
2006
and
2012
.
