Abstract
In the
spring
of
2012
a
survey
was
distributed
electronically
to
two-hundred
participants
including
students
,
faculty
and
staff
at
each
of the
four
Connecticut
State
Universities
.
Interviews
of
key
faculty
and
staff
were also
carried
out
. The
objectives
of the
study
were to
explore
the
relationships
between
campus
sustainability
and how
significantly
it
could
be
related
to
changes
in
society
,
curriculum
demand
,
technological
advances
, and
presence
of an
environmental
leader
. The
results
of this
study
revealed
the
following
relationships
; There
is
a
gradual
change
in
response
and
evolution
of
sustainability
based
on
developments
within
the
general
society
;
Demand
for
courses
and
changes
in
curricula
are the
result
of
rising
costs
of
lifestyle
,
environmental
degradation
,
climate
change
conscience
and
developments
in
society
;
Technological
advances
have
led
to
improved
applications
of
sustainability
methods
on
campus
;
Presence
of an
environmental
champion
and or
leader
on
campus
leads
to
changes
in
courses
, and
integration
of
sustainability
into the
curriculum
and
overall
university
mission
;
Changes
have not been
equal
across
the
four
CSU
system
universities
based
on
accessibility
to
resources
,
initiatives
,
environmental
leaders
.
