This
mixed
methods
case
study
using
convergence
of
evidence
examined
data-based
decision
making
teams
that
function
like
professional
learning
communities
(PLCs)
and the
impact
of the
teams
on
reading
achievement
. The
study
used
a
professional
learning
community
assessment
tool
to
assess
staff
perceptions
based
on the
five
dimensions
of a
PLC
.
Connecticut
Mastery
Test
reading
scores
and
Dynamic
Indicators
of
Beginning
Early
Literacy
Skills
were also
collected
.
Qualitative
data
were
collected
through
structured
observations
of
grade
level
data
teams
at the
studied
elementary
schools
.
Although
reading
achievement
differences
were not
statistically
significant
,
students
made
more
reading
progress
in the
school
with a
higher
level
of
implementation
of
PLC
and
data-based
decision
making
practices
.
