Notes	Teaching chemistry is a very difficult task because students find the subject very difficult to learn. The subject requires new vocabulary, new study skills and new problem solving strategies as well as the understanding of complex and abstract ideas. Many students on the high school and college level avoid taking chemistry and other science, mathematics and technology courses. As society becomes increasingly more technical, the need for knowledge and skill in these fields grows. At the same time the number of people skilled in these fields decreases. Can ascertaining the learning styles of students and then tailoring specific lessons to those styles increase success in chemistry? Does a specific chemistry learning style exist? The purpose of this research is to answer those and other questions about the learning of chemistry and to determine if this information can then be used to increase success in teaching chemistry and therefore learning chemistry. There is no best learning style for chemistry and learning style information is not a meaningful way to increase chemistry success. The data do reveal some interesting relationships between learning styles and chemistry learning By a very slight margin, high chemistry test scores were earned by students with moderate motivation, average persistence, high responsibility and low structure learning style needs. The students also had high auditory, low visual, average tactile and average kinesthetic learning style scores. More boys exhibit this type of learning style than do girls.
