Notes
The
military
revolution
had an
important
impact
on the
New
Model
Army
of
Great
Britain
and
because
of its
impact
the
New
Model
Army
was
able
to
transform
Great
Britain
into the
dominant
world
power
in
early
modern
Europe
. The
military
revolution
, as
described
by
Geoffrey
Parker
,
can
be
shown
to have had a
very
profound
effect
on
European
armies
and
society
of the
early
modern
period
. The
interesting
fact
I
encounter
is
that
while
most
historians
agree
that
some
sort
of
revolution
occurred
,
no
one
has
tried
to
trace
its
impact
on
England
in the
early
modern
period
. This
is
why
a
thesis
that
examines
the
New
Model
Army
with the
military
revolution
is
important
. The
English
Civil
War
was not
caused
by the
military
revolution
but its
outcome
was
influenced
by
it
. This
thesis
will
explore
the
military
revolution
and the
English
Civil
War
, and
explain
in
detail
the
relationship
between
these
two
events
. This
thesis
will
start
with an
examination
of the
theories
of the
military
revolution
, as
first
suggested
by
Dr
.
Michael
Roberts
and then
later
by
Dr
.
Geoffrey
Parker
.
Subsequent
chapters
will
deal
with
tactics
,
supply
,
leadership
as
well
as the
personal
ties
of the
combatants
to the
Continent
. For
it
was in
Europe
that the
revolution
started
.
