awareness
among
business
associates
continues
the
success
of
international
business
between
Japan
and
America
/

Notes
With the
constant
progression
in the
technology
of the
twenty
first
century
and the
interdependence
of the
world
,
it
has
become
mandatory
to
keep
a
continuous
flow
of
communication
around
the
globe
. The
seas
that
stand
between
the
East
and the
West
are
quickly
shrinking
and the
barriers
are
no
longer
as
deterring
as they have been in the
past
.
America
and
Japan
are
involved
in
constant
communication
as they
engage
in
international
business
ventures
each
day
. In
order
for
Americans
to
communicate
efficiently
and
conduct
business
with
Japan
,
it
is
necessary
to have an
accurate
understanding
of what
lies
behind
the
Japanese
culture
and their
particular
communication
style
Culture
has a
strong
effect
on the
way
business
is
conducted
throughout
the
world
.
Business
associates
must
understand
how
culture
affects
the
way
a
particular
society
views
the
world
and
shares
their
thoughts
with
others
. The
history
of the
Japanese
language
,
Confucianism
,
Buddhism
and
Shinto
combined
with the
collectivist
ideals
of a
homogeneous
society
striving
to
live
in a
harmonious
environment
have had a
hand
in the
formation
of an
indirect
style
of
communication
.
Similarly
,
Christianity
, the
American
values
of
individuality
and
freedom
in a
heterogeneous
community
have
resulted
in a
direct
communication
in
America.
. With a
true
understanding
of these
cultural
attributes
of
Japan
,
it
becomes
possible
for
Americans
to
assess
each
international
business
endeavor
with an
educated
perspective
.
