Notes
Back
Alley
Gourmet
is
an
emerging
company
that
produces
gourmet
salad
dressings
.
It
is
founded
and
conceptualized
by
Chef
Hans
, a
European-trained
chef
who
worked
in
some
of the
top
hotels
in
Germany
. As a
young
man
in his
early
twenties
, he
came
to the
United
States
with the
dream
of
owning
and
running
his
own
restaurant
. A
quaint
little
New
England
farm
home
that was
off
the
beaten
path
, was
converted
into a
restaurant
where
Chef
Hans
fulfilled
his
dream
. As a
restaurateur
he
founded
the
idea
of an
hors
d'oeuvres
table
which
included
a
multitude
of
hot
and
cold
appetizers
,
such
foods
as
vegetable
salads
,
picked
items
,
seafood
and
pasta
items
,
all
of
which
were
complimented
by his
unique
salad
dressings
. This was the
inspiration
for
Back
Alley
Gourmet
. The
design
is
based
on the
feel
of
late
19th
century
extravagance
that was
present
in
both
Europe
and
America
. The
colors
chosen
are
similar
to
colors
used
in the
fin
de
siècle
period
of that
era
. The
golden
brown
tones
reflect
a
deep
,
rich
,
sophisticated
feel
set
off
by
bands
of
color
to
distinguish
one
dressing
from the
other
. The
silhouetted
female
,
unique
font
,
colors
,
orientation
and
stylistic
era
is
used
to
create
continuity
and
bring
about
the
feeling
of
richness
and
extravagance
so
as to
attract
the
niche
market
of
middle
to
upper
class
professionals
. The
name
itself
,
Back
Alley
Gourmet
, was
chosen
because
it
represents
the
concept
of the
hidden
jewel
, the
undiscovered
, that
which
is
tucked
in a
corner
that
only
the
few
, that are
daring
enough
to
venture
into the
unknown
, are
aware
of.
