single
embedded
case
study
of
one
fringe-urban
high
school
(the
case)
participating
in a
district-wide
change
initiative
utilizing
collaboration
. As
collaboration
features
prominently
in the
literature
on
school
change
, this
study
investigated
how
teachers
on
interdisciplinary
and
discipline
specific
teams
conceptualized
and
used
collaboration
(the
embedded
case)
. The
central
unit
of
analysis
,
teacher
talk
, was
analyzed
using
discourse
analysis
applied
to
data
collected
by
survey
,
interview
and
observation
. This
methodology
was
used
to
determine
how
teachers
conceptualized
and
used
collaboration
in the
instructional
setting
. These
data
were
analyzed
revealing
initial
themes
, and
discourse
analysis
deepened
those
themes
revealing
facets
of
teacher
conceptualization
in the
context
of the
case
in
which
collaborative
teams
were and are
situated
.
