Notes
There
is
one
thing
we
all
have in
common
.
Regardless
of
our
gender
,
age
,
race
,
religion
or
socioeconomic
status
,
we
, as
human
beings
,
all
experience
the
pain
and
suffering
associated
with
life
. This
is
an
unavoidable
,
inevitable
fact
.
We
suffer
in
many
ways
, from
many
things
:
physically
,
mentally
,
emotionally
,
socially
and
financially
. The
stressors
of
life
are
endless
and
often
unpredictable
which
leaves
us
vulnerable
to the
ill
effects
of
such
. How
do
we
arm
ourselves
,
equip
ourselves
,
prepare
ourselves
to
manage
life
What
can
we
do
to
obtain
,
regain
or
maintain
a
satisfying
,
healthy
,
happy
lifestyle
?
It
is
the
premise
of this
paper
that
due
to
our
spiritual
nature
, the
only
thorough
,
consistent
and
effective
way
to
manage
life's
stress
and
challenges
is
to
relinquish
control
of
our
lives
back
to
our
creator
God
by
means
of
faith
.
True
faith
is
not
merely
belief
in
God
, but
trust
in
God
.
Where
there
is
faith
and
t
rust
there
is
hope
.
Hope
is
the
mitigating
variable
between
despair
and
healing
.
One
with a
sense
of
hope
will
attempt
to
affect
a
change
because
the
belief
exists
there
is
a
way
to
alter
the
current
aversive
condition
. This
paper
is
organized
in the
following
manner
to
present
the
issues
and to
substantiate
the
above
premise
.
Part
one--chapters
one
through
four--is
devoted
to the
investigation
of
healing
human
suffering
from a
psychological
standpoint
.
Chapter
One
is
a
brief
introduction
to and
overview
of the
theory
and
research
leading
to the
conclusion
that
faith
is
the
ultimate
variable
in
promoting
a
sense
of
hope
and
peace
amidst
the
challenges
we
inevitable
face
in
life
.
Chapter
Two
is
a
discussion
of
our
basic
human
needs
and how they
relate
to
stress
and
conflict
in
our
lives
.
Chapter
Three
deals
with
perceptions
of
stress
and the
negative
symptomology
resulting
from
unmet
needs
.
Chapter
Four
, The
Concept
of
Control
,
examines
specific
approaches
aimed
at
improving
the
quality
of
life
for
individuals
and
reducing
stress
and the
negative
effects
of
such
.
Chapter
Five
is
the
conclusion
to
part
I
.
Part
II
begins
with
Chapter
Six
:
Spirituality
. This
chapter
introduces
the
importance
of
considering
humankind's
spiritual
nature
in
relation
to
our
needs
.
Chapter
Seven
discusses
the
importance
of
faith
in
relation
to
hope
.
Chapter
Eight
is
the
conclusion
that
ties
together
the
entire
discussion
from the
psychological
to the
spiritual
and
substantiates
the
initial
premise
.
