prediction
of
college
mathematics
grades
has been
widely
researched
.
Results
from
other
studies
have
shown
that the
prediction
of
college
mathematics
grades
can
vary
depending
on the
set
of
predictor
variables
considered
. For
instance
,
some
studies
have
neglected
to
include
high
school
variables
to be
predictors
of
college
mathematics
success
. The
purpose
of this
study
is
to
determine
which
high
school
factors
predict
college
mathematics
course
grades
by
examining
the
following
set
of
predictor
variables
:
gender
,
high
school
mathematics
course
grades
,
high
school
mathematics
course
level
,
high
school
grade
point
average
,
high
school
class
rank
,
scholastic
aptitude
mathematics
test
scores
, and
college
placement
test
scores
. The
initial
sample
consisted
of
138
students
who
graduated
from a
single
high
school
and
entered
the
same
university
as
first-time
freshman
. A
best
subsets
regression
was
used
to
determine
which
combination
of
predictors
would be the
most
significant
in
