Notes
The
academic
success
rate
between
juvenile
parolees
and
juvenile
probationers
are
investigated
.
Data
for this
analysis
was
obtained
from a
research
project
through
the
Pilot
Reintegration
Educational
Program
(PREP)
,
which
sought
to
successfully
reintegrate
juvenile
offenders
back
into the
Hartford
Public
School
System
following
release
from a
secure
placement
. The
primary
findings
from the
first
analysis
suggest
that a
variety
of
variables
are
related
to
academic
success
:
gender
,
age
,
school
grade
,
school
placement
, and
special
education
status
. The
second
analysis
focused
solely
on the
various
factors
affecting
the
success
of
juvenile
parolees
. The
data
reveals
that
juvenile
parolees
are the
most
at-risk
of
all
the
youth
that are
analyzed
in this
study
.
Implications
of the
findings
, as
well
as
suggestions
for
future
research
are
discussed
.
