Title
The
Relationship
Between
Collective
Teacher
Efficacy
and
Professional
Learning
Communities
Publisher
Central Connecticut State University
Date
2009
Resource Type
Dissertation
Notes
Professional
learning
communities
(PLC)
and
collective
teacher
efficacy
(CTE)
show
promising
results
in the
area
of
student
achievement
by their
relationship
to
each
other
.
Based
on a
national
survey
of
certified
staff
PLC
teams
,
data
showed
that
staff
perceptions
of
CTE
were
high
when
they also
rated
themselves
higher
on the
PLC
continuum
. This
is
important
information
since
both
PLCs
and
CTE
show
independently
that
student
achievement
rises
with their
implementation
,
so
one
can
surmise
that
student
achievement
would be
higher
when
both
exist
together
. This
demonstrates
that
teachers
feel
that by
working
together
, they
can
make
a
difference
;
especially
when
done
in a
collaborative
environment
such
as
PLCs
. This has
implications
for
district
professional
development
and
organizational
learning
.
