Title
The
relationship
between
self-esteem
and
anger
.
Publisher
Central Connecticut State University
Date
2002
Resource Type
Master's Thesis
Notes
The
present
research
sought
to
provide
evidence
of a
relationship
between
self-esteem
and
anger
.
Twenty-seven
of the
93
subjects
from a
previous
research
study
were
mailed
a
selfesteem
survey
, the
Multi-dimensional
Self-esteem
Inventory
(MSEI
;
Epstein
&
O'Brien
,
1988)
.
Results
were
examined
on
two
levels
.
First
,
high
and
low
anger
subjects
were
compared
to
determine
if any
differences
existed
between
their
levels
of
self-esteem
.
Second
,
components
of
self-esteem
were
compared
with
selected
variables
from the
previous
anger
study
for
all
subjects
. The
primary
findings
of this
study
do
not
support
a
relationship
between
self-esteem
and
anger
.
Results
did
provide
evidence
of a
link
between
mental
health
problems
and
components
of
selfesteem
.
Implications
of this
study
suggest
anger
management
programs
do
not
need
to
address
self-esteem
as
it
is
an
unrelated
concept
.
