Notes	Residential treatment facilities are designed to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for behaviorally challenged students. A recent trend has emerged that involves the placement of adjudicated students – in lieu of incarceration – at many residential treatment facilities. The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of adjudicated students on the behavior and academic achievement of non-adjudicated students in a residential treatment facility. This study used a secondary data analysis to measure and compare the non-adjudicated students' behavior and academic achievement for a nine-month time period before and a nine-month time period after adjudicated students enrolled in the school. In addition, independent samples t tests were used to compare the behavior and academic achievement of the non-adjudicated students to that of the adjudicated students. Results indicate that during the nine-month time period in which adjudicated and non-adjudicated students were enrolled in school together a statistically significant increase (p = 0.009) in physical aggression among non-adjudicated students occurred. The results also indicate that a statistically significant decrease (p = 0.003) in the number of times non-adjudicated students were explled from class and a statistically significant increase (p = 0.03) in their academic grades occurred during their nine-month exposure to adjudicated students. The results suggest that there is an association between exposure to adjudicated students and an increase in antisocial behavior and an increase in academic achievement among non-adjudicated students in a residential treatment facility.
