Title	Oral history interview with John Denino recorded 2010 Apr. 9
Description	Interview conducted by Antonia Palmieri. John Denino enlisted in the U.S. Army just prior to the start of the Korean War. He went to basic training at Fort Dix, NJ for twelve weeks and then was sent to Fort Hood, Tex. where he trained to be part of an artillery battalion. He was sent overseas after training, although the he and the other soldiers were not told where they were going. After additional training in Japan, his battalion was sent to Korea. Denino explains that he had never heard of Korea, or the conflict there, until his unit was on its way over to fight. In Korea, Denino worked with an artillery unit that saw combat often, and experienced many casualties on their push to North Korea. During the interview, he describes some of the more memorable events that happened, and how the troops interacted with one another. Denino returned to the U.S. and served at Fort Dix for the remainder of his time in service. He was discharged in September of 1952.
