1942
. She was
assigned
to the
paymaster’s
department
in
Washington
,
D.C
.
after
undergoing
basic
training
in
North
Carolina
.
During
the
interview
she
discusses
what was
expected
of them
throughout
basic
training
and her
assignment
.
It
was her
duty
to
give
soldiers
their
back
pay
after
they
returned
home
from the
war
. She
describes
them as
young
boys
,
many
of
whom
were
ill
upon
their
return
.
After
the
war
ended
she
returned
to her
secretarial
job
in
New
York
City
.
