Title	Oral history interview with Frederick W. Christie recorded on 2009 Jan. 3
Description	Interview conducted by Jeanne Christie. Frederick Christie was drafted into the military during his first year of law school in 1968. Because he did not want his branch of service chosen for him, he instead enlisted in the U.S. Navy, before his draft activation. He went to the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois for basic training, which he describes as being the first time he was “treated like a number instead of a person”. He then went to Yeoman school for eight weeks before being activated for service in Guam. His assignment in Guam lasted 18 months and he worked in the legal office because of his previous experience. While in Guam he met his wife, who had worked for the USO. Christie was then transferred to Jacksonville, Fla. for the remainder of his service. In 1972, he returned to law school, where he used the GI Bill to help finance his education.
