Title	Oral history interview with Robert V. Ferguson recorded on 2004 July 29
Description	Interview conducted by Eileen Hurst. Ferguson was drafted into the U.S. Army at the age of 21. Originally drafted for 18 months, he later found that his draft period had been extended and he would remain in the service for an additional 4 months. He attended basic training at Fort Hood, Texas and then later was transferred to Camp Chafee, Arkansas. It was in Arkansas that Ferguson was almost discharged from the Army because of an extreme allergy to Poison Oak. However, after discovering that there was no Poison Oak in Korea, the army decided to keep him in the service. From Arkansas, he went to Korea where he ran the wires needed for communication. He was discharged in 1953 and returned to Connecticut. Ferguson said the events he witnessed in Korea negatively impacted his life after he was discharged. When he returned home he went back to school with the help of the G.I. bill, and subsequently worked for AT&T for a number of years.
