This collection features holdings from the Elihu Burritt Library Connecticut Polish American Archives at CCSU. Over four hundred Polish posters covering the subjects of film, theater, circus, art, music, social, political and cultural events. The collection includes fine examples of influential Polish School of Posters famed for its clever use of symbols, allusions and metaphors as well as painterly quality. Most posters were designed between 1960s and 1980s. They represent many styles, from minimalist and abstract, baroque and romantic, pop-art and psychedelic to Soviet-style communist propaganda.
