Notes	The purpose of this study is to identify if a three-dimensional computer aided drafting program will help high school students improve their spatial reasoning skills (n=20). Technology changes at a rapid pace and is predicted to change even faster in future years. Technology has changed drafting procedures for different industries. The creation of documentation has also changed from focusing on creating a two dimensional representation to the initial creation of a three dimensional representation of an object or project. The learning styles of the students through an inventory revealed that technology education students are primarily visual learners. A survey revealed that 61.6% of teachers use computer aided design drafting software to implementing drafting methods in their classroom. This study revealed that 75% of high school technology education students using a computer program with three-dimensional capabilities correctly answered spatial geometry problems more efficiently than manual descriptive geometry procedures. Investigating the differences of the two sections of the instruments administered, the CAD class increased their understanding of spatial reasoning relations. However, in reviewing the results from the matching parts instrument the combination of the two CAD classes reveals a greater percentage of students’ scores decreased than increased or remained neutral. The spatial reasoning test results revealed that the art students declined in their understanding without the use of a three-dimensional program. It was concluded that a computer aided design/drafting program will increase spatial reasoning. It is noted that an additional study is warranted to investigate if a two-dimensional unit is needed to increase spatial understanding.
